Satisfiability Modulo Transcendental Functions via Incremental Linearization

چکیده
In this paper we present an abstraction-refinement approach to Satisfiability Modulo the theory of transcendental functions, such as exponentiation and trigonometric functions. The transcendental functions are represented as uninterpreted in the abstract space, which is described in terms of the combined theory of linear arithmetic on the rationals with uninterpreted functions, and are incrementally axiomatized by means of upperand lower-bounding piecewise-linear functions. Suitable numerical techniques are used to ensure that the abstractions of the transcendental functions are sound even in presence of irrationals. Our experimental evaluation on benchmarks from verification and mathematics demonstrates the potential of our approach, showing that it compares favorably with delta-satisfiability/interval propagation and methods based on theorem proving.

Pushing the Envelope of Optimization Modulo Theories with Linear-Arithmetic Cost Functions
In the last decade we have witnessed an impressive progress in the expressiveness and efficiency of Satisfiability Modulo Theories (SMT) solving techniques. This has brought previously-intractable problems at the reach of stateof-the-art SMT solvers, in particular in the domain of SW and HW verification. Many SMT-encodable problems of interest, however, require also the capability of finding mo...
متن کاملProof Checking Technology for Satisfiability Modulo Theories
A common proof format for solvers for Satisfiability Modulo Theories (SMT) is proposed, based on the Edinburgh Logical Framework (LF). Two problems arise: checking very large proofs, and keeping proofs compact in the presence of complex side conditions on rules. Incremental checking combines parsing and proof checking in a single step, to avoid building in-memory representations of proof subter...
متن کاملFunctional Stable Model Semantics and Answer Set Programming Modulo Theories
Recently there has been an increasing interest in incorporating “intensional” functions in answer set programming. Intensional functions are those whose values can be described by other functions and predicates, rather than being pre-defined as in the standard answer set programming. We demonstrate that the functional stable model semantics plays an important role in the framework of “Answer Se...
متن کاملEfficient Satisfiability Modulo Theories via Delayed Theory Combination
The problem of deciding the satisfiability of a quantifier-free formula with respect to a background theory, also known as Satisfiability Modulo Theories (SMT), is gaining increasing relevance in verification: representation capabilities beyond propositional logic allow for a natural modeling of real-world problems (e.g., pipeline and RTL circuits verification, proof obligations in soft-
متن کاملSatisfiability Modulo Free Data Structures Combined with Bridging Functions
Free Data Structures are finite semantic trees modulo equational axioms that are useful to represent classical data structures such as lists, multisets and sets. We study the satisfiability problem when free data structures are combined with bridging functions. We discuss the possibility to get a combination method à la Nelson-Oppen for these particular non-disjoint unions of theories. In order...
